Were Anne Bonny and Mary Read real people?
Yes. Sea Monsters is a modern adaptation of their story. |
Why is Sea Monsters set in the modern era? That's historically inaccurate.
You're mother's historically inaccurate. Oh wait, no--she just has chlamydia.
Haven't we all had enough of pirates lately? Pirates, pirates, pirates--that's all they seem to do nowadays. Pirates in the Caribbean, pirates, drinking rum, pirates wearing pirate hats and singing pirate songs. GOD. I'll want to kill myself for all the damnable pirates. Do you really want to make me do all that research into historical sailing just so's you can enjoy EVEN MORE pirates? I grew up in the midwestern United States. It's hard enough for me to write a comic about boats. I've been on one, like, twice.

How did you come up with the idea for Sea Monsters ?
The "origin story" of Sea Monsters was made into an illustrated extra, which you can find here.
|
Can I link Sea Monsters/Will you link me/Do you do link exchanges?
Yes to all three. Please send me an email over here.
|
Who are the people you mention on your livejournal?
Darkness, Wifey, and Wingapo are all past/present roommates and dear friends of mine in real life.
|
Why do you update so slowly/inconsistantly?
Because I'm too busy sucking cocks to post on my webcomic.
Also, I suppose because I am a full-time student working two part-time jobs and trying to make ends meet.
|
What do you use to illustrate your pages?
I switched midway through the first chapter from hand illustrations to tablet drawings. I use Poser 7.0 to pose most of my scenes; a refurbished Wacom 4x6Intuos 3 Tablet in Adobe Photoshop to ink and color; and Adobe Illustrator to add speech bubbles.

If you could have your way with any fictional character, who would it be?
Jaime Lannister. Though I'd rather he had his way with me. Nobody's asked me this question yet, but at least I've put all the debate to rest.

Who are you? Is there an author biography? |
| Gwen Meer was born in 1887 a small rural community in central Germany. When an escaped band of angry, very badly displaced hyenas from a traveling Moscow circus tore through the town, the dirt-poor Ma and Pa Meer threw their precious baby girl before the beasts, hoping to save their own lives. Instead of eating her, the hyenas took her deep into the Black Forest and raised her as one of their own. Though she now lives and works among the human-folk, she is eternally grateful to her hyena foster-clan and credits them with her high testosterone levels, her ability to digest bones, and her knack for dominating her sexual partners with the use of a pseudo-penis. |
